It’s been a great year for Apple with new product launches, increased sales and a second generation iPhone. Now Apple has ended the year with an award for its iPhone Touch from T3 magazine. The UK technology magazine has named Apple’s iPod Touch as the gadget of the year.

The MP3 player from Apple won ahead of the new Eee PC from Asus, a compact Sony camcorder and a new TomTom model.

According to Michael Brook, the editor of T3 magazine:

The iPod wasn’t the first MP3 player, but it was, and is, by far the best. The iPhone clearly wasn’t the first smartphone, but it was the first one that every man, his dog and his dog’s ticks would sell limbs to own.

It wasn’t just the iPod Touch that won for Apple, they also won three more awards from T3. The iPhone won the best gadget for a commuter aware, the iPod Touch 32GB version won the best music gadget and they also received an award for their MacBook Air.

The awards for T3 were decided by their readers, where 54,000 votes were cast.
