Kid Rock admits he’ll give in to MP3 downloads
MP3 downloads for MP3 players and iPods have revolutionised the music industry, however not everyone has adopted the digital revolution, with some music performers being venomously against the digital download genre.
The problem tends to be different for every artist. Some don’t like the quality of the sound on their music when it’s turned into MP3 files, some feel that music should exist physically, such as a CD or vinyl record, and some, like Kid Rock, are simply unhappy about the revenue share afforded by iTunes.
Currently an artist received around 9 cents per track downloaded from iTunes, and Kid Rock has always refused to allow his music on the platform because of that; however he has no admitted for the first time that it’s an inevitable way that the industry is headed. Kid Rock has signed a deal with Rhapsody that will see his music available online for download.
Kid Rock said about his boycott of iTunes:
I will be on iTunes eventually because I can’t avoid it, but I like to always stick to my guns and prove a point and do something original and because I believe in it.
