Truckers swap CB Radios for MP3 Players
The stereotypical image of a trucker chatting away in code, using such phrases as ‘You’ve got a smoky on your tail’ and ‘that’s a big 10-4’ while talking on their CB radios are being challenged it seems. Truckers, rather than using CB radios to keep in touch with their trucking comrades, are opting for MP3 players to keep them entertained on the long haulage runs.
Midnight Trucking Radio Network is a radio station that runs for 5 hours overnight, and caters specifically for truckers. on July 3rd the show became available on iTunes due to the popularity of MP3 players and iPods among truckers.
Mindy Baker is the sales manager for MTRN:
We feel this is a very positive step for our network.
Research shows over and over again that truckers are buying fewer satellite radios and opting for MP3 players, and other technologies. MTRN is the #1 content provider for the industry and podcasting on iTunes is yet one more way for our audience to access that content free of charge.
The radio show currently has over 2 million listeners every month, and it becoming available on iTunes will only increase that coverage.
