How did they manage to fit so much technology into such a small MP3 player? The great folks at Samsung have managed to put the smiles on our faces yet again! Their latest creation, the YP-U3 has everything anybody could need and more in a portable MP3 player.

We’ve all been spoiled for choice this summer with a selection of awesome ultra portable MP3 players like the Creative Zen stone and Apple’s new version of the iPod shuffle.

In our opinion, the Samsung YP-U3 is the daddy of all ultra portable MP3 players! It’s a serious contender for our favourite ultra portable digital audio player of all time! We first got our hands on a sample a couple of weeks before the UK launch of the product and our first impressions couldn’t have been better!

The Samsung YP-U3 feels like a nice quality player and it’s gorgeous to look at in every colour. The best thing about the Samsung YP-U3 is that you get everything you could want and have to make no compromises on features.

Things we loved about it:

Display: A great OLED display make navigating your way around the MP3 player's menus easy and enjoyable. The screen is clear, well lit and very easy to read.... even for those with slight visual impairments.
User Interface (UI): Samsung basically cloned the interface from the award winning YP-K3 MP3 players, added a few simple touches and installed it in the YP-U3. Again, the UI is another great feature, it's so easy to use and find your way around the menus and access all of this wonderful little units features.
Touch Pad: Another fantastic feature. The touch pad on the YP-U3 means that there aren't any buttons to damage and the MP3 player manages to maintain a nice, flat and slim exterior.
FM Radio: 20 presets mean you can store all of your favourite stations and access them easily. The YP-U3 also features an FM radio recording function.
DRM 10 (Janus): That's right... it works with subscription music services too like "Napster to Go"
Something For Everyone: Available in 3 memory sizes: 1GB (300 Songs), 2GB (600 Songs) and 4GB (1200 Songs) and a choice of 5 colours: Black (1GB, 2GB and 4GB), White (1GB Only), Blue (1GB Only), Green ((1GB Only) and Pink (1GB Only)
Price: Cheap price point means this is as affordable as all of the leading competitors products and it's soooo much better!

2GB: YP-U3JQB (Black) - 2GB only available in black

Our only gripes with the Samsung YP-U3 at the moment is the lack of original accessories available to buy (unlike the Creative Zen Stone MP3 player range) and the cooler colours like the pink, green and blue aren't available in the larger memory sizes at the minute, but these are rumoured to hit the shelves nearer the end of the summer.

Our verdict: An all round winner - you simply can't go wrong with this MP3 player. It looks amazing and it's a pleasure to use. It's packed with features and incredibly well priced!
